The film opened with 90% occupancy in both multiplexes and single screens in Tamil Nadu District including Chennai and other cities. It also witnessed the same 90% occupancy in other countries. Nanban grossed around 15 crore (US$2.85 million) on the first day of its release and the four days extended first weekend worldwide collection totaled at 61 crore (US$11.59 million).[80][81] The film has netted a record 2.27 crore (US$431,300) in four days extended first weekend at Chennai box office. It grossed 1.39 crore (US$264,100) on first day of the release from Kerala.[83] Nanban also got a great opening at the Bangalore box-office.[84]
Nanban had made $76,580 ( 40.59 lakhs) in Australian box-office during its first weekend.[85][86] It also secured the first place in the Malaysian box-office.The film also did good business in UK by grossing £1,17,846 ( 92.77 lakhs) from 24 screens in its first four days first extended weekend.
